Murphy's law strikes.....

Well, last summer while traveling across the Midwest our auto leveling system stopped working. (2007 Journey) I had conflicting lights on the panel, like indicating both the left and right sides are low at the same time. I suspected the dash air conditioning condensation had shorted or corroded something as it was dripping right on the box. I added an extender hose to get it to drip below the coach. The auto system continued to not work, but I could level manually with a bubble level.

Since it failed, we had six weeks on the road last summer, a couple short trips in the fall, and a 7 week trip this winter. Still having to use manual leveling. In trouble shooting, the symptoms lead to replacing the control board.

Well, my extended warrantee on the coach expires this May, so I made an appointment at an RV repair shop to get it fixed for my $50 deductible. Well, wouldn't you know, I pull out the RV and it is working just fine. I figure by the time I drive the 30 minutes there, it will be showing the fail symptoms. I get there and for the life of me I can't get it to fail. It is working perfectly! Isn't that the way it goes? I know next time we head out.....

You gotta just smile and press on.

  • Our HWH leveling wouldn't go into travel mode and the warning light would come on intermittently. We were headed to the midwest so we stopped in Moscow IA at the HWH factory and service. It took them 4 days to troubleshoot and fix the problem. They replaced 5 valves, rebuilt the control box, put in a new keypad, and upgraded the software. Excellent customer service but an intermittent problem can be a pain! The valves were sticking. That was 2 years ago. Now we have another problem. The left rear is too low when it tries to go to travel mode. They are checking the "6 pack manifold" exhaust valves and solenoid. Agree you should get the problem reported in case.
  • I would somehow try to get it documented that you're having an intermittent problem, and when it has occurred, i.e. before the warranty expired. It might not do any good if/when you have a problem again, but better to have it and not need it than...see where I'm going here?
  • yep it dried out, now update your policy so the next time it happens your covered.
