Not saying its right, but, as an explanation for the OP i understand many use ATF as a ultra clean replacement to fill a fuel filter ( since its past the filter ) using raw diesel could , i say could introduce contaminates to the High pressure fuel pump and injectors. Not my method but thats what I understand. I'll be hoping something works for the Op as Ive read many stories of nothing working until in the shop.
