My TV Antenna is a Windguard but its 2004. I went on the roof to see if there was a model number and theres not any. I could not find any information in the books about it. Is it outdated and should be replaced? I replace the Antenna on my 1995 Motor Home and what a difference it made. I tried today turning on the TV and raise the antenna but got no picture so far. Not sure what to do?
A 2004, Batwing style will be a Sensar II or III, not much different. In fact I'm not sure what the differences are but suspect cosmetic.
Antennas last a long, long, long, long time Though they can go bad and the Sensar Antenna is part antenna part electronics and those CAN fail. But an antenna is nothing more than a piece of metal in the air. Other than corrosion on the contacts not much can go wring with a simple piece of wire.
There are.. however.. Upgrades
The WINGMAN (About 30 bucks) improves the gain on the UHF band, also increases directionality (How you improve gain in case you wonder) and turns your existing Sensar II or III into the very best RV antenna in current production.
And if you have the wall plate inside you can replace it with the Sensar Pro multi-function device for about 100 dollars for an even greater improvement.
I have a matrix switch (Box of many buttons) inside but was able to put the Sensar Pro "in front" of it (off to the side but between the BOMB and the Roof)
Only major thing that might fail on a 14 year old antenna (mine by the way is 13)
THe exteriour coax (Roof to antenna head) and the connector at/in the roofline (I did have to re-do those connectors).
