I couldn't bring myself to watch those videos of the surgery for more than a few seconds. Too squeamish.
As for the numbness, I'm afraid I never regained full feeling in my neck and jaw area following my surgery. It felt really strange at first, especially when shaving, but eventually I have adjusted to it as the new normal. Better numb skin than numb brain!
