Good work, but that rod bearing was not making the noise. You do have bearing fatigue in at least that rod bearing, but more than likely it was piston slap that was making the noise. More than likely, all the lower end bearing will have bearing fatigue to one extent to another. A rod bearing that is going out, will not last for very long at all, and is not only a clatter, but is accompanied by some squeaking also. Followed by some very load banging, sounding like a broken piston. You did duck a real problem, as bearing fatigue leads to bearing failure very shortly.
