Hi all y’all,
Don’t all y’all just love “all y’all” (the plural of y’all). It’s so Texas.
I haven’t posted a progress report in a few days because it’s all been pretty mundane. Every morning I get up have my coffee and cereal and then work a few hours putting all the bits and pieces back on the engine. I typically only work until noon before it gets uncomfortably hot and humid. It’s not usually quite so humid in this area but with the nearly daily rains the humidity’s been quite high. Speaking of the weather, someone up in the heavens, with his finger on the smite button, must’ve heard me complaining about the weather. “So you think it’s too rainy, I’ll show you rain!” Last night the area was hit with some record weather flooding parts of I-35 as well as San Marcos. Fortunately, I’m a few miles east of San Marcos so even though there was some flooding nearby my worksite wasn’t flooded out, though there are some impressive amounts of water adjacent too and pouring by my elevated worksite.
I awoke this morning to the ruckus of a police helicopter landing in the highway in front of my worksite. There must be trouble afoot. Oh my!
A photo of the adjoining restaurant property and road flooding down from where I’m staying.
This area next to my elevated worksite is normally dry, now it’s a small river. If you’ll notice, I have my Porta-bote hanging off the side of my RV. Yep, I’m one prepared camper!
I’m hoping to have my home-on-wheels back on the road by the end of next week. I’m currently waiting for various parts to arrive via UPS and USPS.
