With any installation of header on a 460 F53, the shift cable and the emergency brake cable need to be insulated or a heat shield installed where the cables run close to the DS header. That is clearly addressed with Banks headers and needs to be addressed on you installation. I have a friend with a 97 F53 that has had the shifter cable replaced twice before he realized the necessity of protecting those two cables from after market header heat. The replacement shift cable is over $400.

That's interesting information. During installation I noticed that the headers ran very close to the shift cable and wondered it would be a problem. Thanks for the heads up. I should probably check out the PS header too since it runs fairly close to the power line for the O2 sensor. It should be easy to make heat shields for the header.
