New Gen
I have a Gentron GG6000P 6000 Watt Propane Generator with Electric Start 5,000W running/6,000 W surge (under a different brand but it's still the same exact generator - Sportsman, AllPower America and Gentron plus others are all the same genny just with different labels on them). It's the next size down from the one you want. It's pretty quiet. I have checked it with a sound meter app on my phone. It is well under the Forestry Service guidelines for generator noise which must not exceed 60 decibels at 50 feet away.... and no two manufacturers seem to list the same distance away for noise levels.
I stripped off the metal cover off of the frame and ran a metal vent pipe (like used on residential gas water heaters) from the muffler exhaust area (not attached) to an outlet in the rear bumper on my bus. I hung it under my bus from the floor frame using U-bolts and Superstruts. It's all open underneath. To be clear, IT IS NOT ENCLOSED. From 10 ft away, you can easily hold a conversation. At 40 Ft, it's hard to hear the generator. Since it's LP, it will start right up after long periods of time of not using it. I take the battery off and store it, with a little Harbor Freight solar battery minder hooked up to it, some place where I don't have to worry about the battery freezing.
BTW, Dimensions of the stripped down frame are the same as the stated dimensions. The wheel kit is not included in the dimensions.
I like my cheapie open frame genny. It's much quieter than the POS Onan 2.5kw Micro gas genny that was on my Class C.... and the second POS Onan which we had to buy after the repair place kept the broken POS Onan for three weeks knowing we were leaving the state (we kept calling to see how the repairs was progressing and they never told us that the repair person took off for a week long vacation). We had to buy a "rebuilt" one the same as what we had taken in to repair. It was loud and then did the same thing the first POS Onan did.
I run my genny in parking lots. I do NOT boondock. It will easily run one of my airs (6000 BTU), 13cf upright freezer, two 4 cf dorm style refrigerators (that's 4 compressors, with at least 3 kicking on occasionally at the same time), plus lights at one time, in triple digit summer heat. I bought a genny that was slightly more than double the running watts of my normal load. That way is could run at the "half load" most of the time and slightly under the Surge due to the compressors if they all kicked on at the same time.
