Today I installed the B&M Deep Transmission Pan onto my 4L80E transmission and replaced the trans fluid, filter and gasket as well.
I bought 12 qts of Valvoline Dexron VI Synthetic fluid, a Purolator filter and a Chevrolet factory o-ring gasket. I had no idea if the gasket had been reused before so I just bought a new one from a local dealer.
I dropped the stock pan and drained off all of the fluid. Here is the B&M on the left vs the stock on the right -

I tried to fit the new pan but the clearance between the transmission and the driver's side exhaust pipe (it crosses over) was insufficient to install the pan.
Three options were available- reinstall the stock pan (and then sell the new one), remove the exhaust or cut the exhaust in order to rotate it out of the way.
I chose option number 3- (cut made with a Sawzall)

I did have to loosen a clamp at the pipe's 1st joint in order for it to rotate down & out of the way.
As fate would have it, UPS should be dropping off my new Miller 211 Mig welder today & plan on welding up that pipe as job number 1.
Here the pan is installed and the exhaust back in position, ready for welding-

The next order of business was to pump out the old fluid & add new.
The easy way to do this is to disconnect the transmission cooler output line from the radiator (the upper one on my rig) , connect a section of clear 3/8 hose to the line, and after adding 6 quarts of new fluid to the pan through the filler tube, start the engine and watch the old fluid get pumped out into a container.
As it was pumping out the old I was adding new fluid.
I did this until the fluid appeared clear/changed color and then I knew the majority of the fluid had been exchanged.
After that I reconnected the cooler line and ran the engine until hot, checking level after working the trans through its gears. I'll have to continue to check it after some driving .
Just need to weld up the pipe and install the trans temp gauge....
