I completed another mod today- installing a pair of aux power outlets on top of the dashboard for the GPS and radar detector.
I wanted the outlets on the top so that there wouldn't be power cords dangling across the radio & instrument panel.
Here's the Garmin on the dash with the dangling cord-

On the top of the dash is a nice recessed tray where I could mount them. I bought 2 of these on ebay-


I had the dash off again in order to complete the transmission temp gauge install so it was really easy to install the outlets.
The correct size hole saw would be needed to make the mounting holes through the dash and I had the perfect size in a kit that was bought from Harbor Freight Tools.

The outlets look like factory pieces with the covers in place-

Then the lock nut is threaded on. I used a dab of hot glue to keep everything in place once it was tightened up. Here is a pic of the wiring-

There is a factory power outlet in the dash right below these so it was easy to tap into that circuit.
These are hot all of the time so they will come in handy if I want to put a portable solar charger up on the dash to keep the batteries charged.
