I was set on buying a Chevy-based B, and took my husband to a dealer's show to show him. He took an instant dislike, and hurried over to the Sprinter-based models. Long story short, we brought home a 2009 LTV Free Spirit. Advantages: it's much bigger than I expected. Lots of room, and it's beautiful. The reliable, durable diesel engine. Lots of visibility from the driver's seat. Disadvantage: it's much bigger than I expected! I'm still very nervous driving it, especially on the freeways. I'm taking lots of small local drives to build up my skills and my confidence.I want to thank all the RV.net folks who gave me lots of information and support, especially Ca Poppy, Georgelesley, and Gypsyhounds.

I don't have a class b, but we do pull a small trailer. When we first got it, I swore I would never drive it, but that lasted one trip and then I remembered how much I hate to be a passenger. I find it much easier to drive on a freeway than on city streets. Much easier! You'll get it. Have fun

Good choice.Just consider it a little bigger than a pickup like an F150 for example. The Free Spirits are clearly, quality Sprinters--this being said by a Pleasure-way Plateau TS owner. Happy trails...

Congratulations!!

I was nervous driving my Sprinter on the freeways too. I'm no longer nervous but I am a bit more cautious when merging with fast moving traffic. Fear not, you'll adjust.

I came to the conclusion that there must be a lot of different grades of diesel available or the quality is not very consistent because I found a wide variety of MPG performance in our recent trip that could not be explained ranging from 16 to 20 MPG on fills with little difference in driving.

We passed the 20,000 mile mark since March 1 and 56,000 miles these past three years. As for Great West Van chapters, I met the other guy. ;) :D

Enjoy! We've had some fantastic long trips over the past three years since we bought our 2006 LTV Free Spirit in 2010. Has to be one of the best things we've ever purchased, for return of joy per dollar invested, and it's still going strong.

Mileage per gallon was great but actually got even better around the 60,000 mark.

We found a Leisure regional chapter (see the LTV website, click Owners) and met some nice folks full of great information. Maybe there's a chapter out your way.

Can't go wrong with the Sprinters. High-teens, low 20s MPG is always a nice thing for long trips.
