In many, many years of camping and RV'ing we've only felt uncomfortable two or three times after pulling into a parking lot or rest area. In each case, the solution was as simple as turning the key and moving on to a different location. We've been accosted by panhandlers in parking lots at times, but always when we were there shopping with the toad, not with the motorhome. The one time we left an Interstate rest area in the middle of the night, was when we woke up to what sounded like a few dozen drunks all puking at the same time. Turned out a trailer load of live hogs had pulled in at some point a couple of spaces away from us. There was a Flying J just a few miles down the road, so we were back in bed about 30 minutes later.
