Depending on how your house is built, a good pocket knife can get someone into the side of a stick-built house with vinyl siding in a matter of minutes. Your RV? At least that has fiberglass and metal in most places...a little harder to enter without permission.
I think, depending on where you stay, you'll be fine 99% of the time. The other 1% will be because you broke down and couldn't help stopping there. Be aware of your surroundings at all times. BUT...don't be so paranoid that you can't enjoy the reason you're there... to get away and see things you haven't seen before! If you so desire and are well versed in how to use it, get a gun. If you're not comfortable with it, then by all means...DON'T get a gun. You'll be more danger to yourself with a gun that you're not comfortable with than simply having a baseball bat or as suggested, some wasp spray. If you do carry a gun with you in the coach, then know the laws on gun possession in every state and jurisdiction that you enter.
Also, as said, the hazards of driving down the road are greater than your personal security being at risk while camping. But in any case...NEVER, NEVER, NEVER be a victim!!!
Now, go get that coach and start enjoying life!!!
