Saying all of that there have been a couple rest areas where we stopped at odd hours, late at night where there were just some things that didn't feel good. When those things happen you just increase your awareness another notch and take care of your business and move on. Life is too short to worry about things that may happen and we can worry ourselves to an early grave doing so.
That. I pulled into a rest area late at night in a remote area of N. Nevada. I was alone on that trip. As I pulled up, a trucker was just leaving and a small car pulled in, dropped off a guy, and left. Why did he drop that guy off? It appeared to me that "they" wanted to make the rest area appear empty in the parking lot (minus my vehicle) and jump the next party that arrived. I left, tried to call the highway patrol, but no cell reception in that area.
I used to do a lot of remote camping in a TT. One thing I have always enjoyed about Rving is the nice, and interesting folks that you meet. But when in remote camps, let's say those without a camp host, every once in a while you will encounter some drunks without anyone nearby in authority who can help. A good friend who is a CHP, told me once years ago, the absolute best thing you can do is simply remove yourself from the situation as soon as you can without any fanfare. While it doesn't seem "right", I think it is the safe move. Be safe out there!
