National Senior Parks Passes

For the Good of the Order... Many of us are eligible for "Senior Passes" which provide free or discounted access to many government recreational facilities. National and Forest Service, Corps of Engineers, that bunch.
Most of we eligibles probably already have this.

FOR THOSE WHO DO NOT! By the end of August, the price takes a more than modest jump. Specifically FROM $10 TO $80. Lifetime pass, but still, $70 pays for a few camping nights, a bunch of gas, a dinner or two out...

Quoting here......... What if my Senior Pass is lost, stolen or damaged?
If lost or stolen, you'll need to buy another one.

Yeah .... I discovered that needing-to-buy-another-one baloney right after I posted above. Dumb policy, huh.

What on Earth is the number on one's original Senior Pass for? It would seem that part of the reason would be to replace verified holder's passes if they lost one - with a new ID number on it - and of course costing a small replacement fee.

Maybe with the Senior Pass costing only $10, repurchase instead of replacement can be rationalized .... but with a Senior Pass costing $80, there definitely should be a (low processing fee) replacement system in place in case of loss or damage.

    These six for sure

    National Park Service
    U.S. Forest Service
    U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service
    Bureau of Land Management
    Bureau of Reclamation
    U.S. Army Corps of Engineers

But always ask. Tennessee Valley Authority discounted our camping. A few years ago, don't know about now, but they did it on a Golden Age Pass number on their web registration.

EDIT: Just checked and they still do. Not 50-pct, but discount from $25 to $18 is still well worth it.
