Having watched the YouTube interview of the man heading Navistar RV's transition to Allied, I had some GOOD FEELINGS for Monaco HR brands.
I'm sure Allied got Navistar RV for a song. They aren't keeping all of what they got -- they can move things tight into their big plant. What did they get? Not so much - a some dead motorhome brands, some patents, and freedom from the anchor of Fleetwood's past. While there are many unhappy former Fleetwood owners, the Monaco and HR names still have some respect and recognition. Unfortunately, if you do a search for dealers of any of these brands - you won't find much of a dealer network exists.
As long as Allied can cozy up to Camping World (as Thor did before the recession), they'll have a marketplace for whatever they produce..
Unfortunately, Allied's version on the Navistar RV brands won't be going into production until the end of the year. That's a long time for the brands to be dormant, but I hope they're able to use it in designing new products. It sounds like they're planning to chase the BIG motorhome market - over 40 feet. Good idea? - we'll see.
Will this be another terrible move for (of) Navistar/Monaco? The prior managements have run the "company" into the ground more than anyone could have imagined. Really, there's nothing left but the names. I hope Allied does well by it. Allied's description sounds a little like Navistar's did - BIG, DIVERSE, "ALL THAT". Please, don't repeat this history!
ALLIED: PLEASE get rid of the Navistar RV name - quick!
