Need 12V Chassis Air Conditioner Fan Replacement Info

The fan motor on my HVAC chassis fan locked up. This is on a Spartan Summit chassis and is located just above the front axle. The fan cools the AC coils for the dash air. I called Spartan but was told that the coach manufacture supplies this unit. Since National RV is no longer in business I am out of luck there. I am looking for other Coaches on the same chassis that are still in business that might use a compatible motor. I cannot get the fan off of the motor due to corrosion and the numbers I need must be under the bracket where I cannot see them. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Most RV dash HVAC is from Evens Tempcon or Denso. Evans Tempcon units will have a heater water control valve. Denso uses a blend air door to control temperature. I have found blower motors for both on Ebay.

I had the same problem recently. Picked up a replacement from O'Reilys Auto parts for $65. A slight mod to the mount bracket but otherwise an almost direct replacement.
    Hayden Electric Fan.
Got them to price match PepBoys (farther away from me).
  • Possibly go ahead and remove it and take it to a parts store. A good parts counter person will recognize it if it is a common fan and be able to provide you with a replacement. If you don't find one at the auto parts house then try the heavy truck parts house next.
You may need to soak the fan in some kind of penetrating oil to get it off of the motor shaft so that you can put it on the new motor. PB Blaster works pretty good for breaking things up.
  • Most of these units are supplied by Denso. You might want to research them.
  • I have seen similar units on the back of semi sleeper units. Even thought about going to truck junk yards to find one.
  • Post a picture. Maybe someone will recognize it.
It could be the same thing used in GM or Ford autos.
