How about the GMC Acadia? I bought a 2015 for my sister, and was impressed with the ride, handling and seating for 7. The new 2017s are a bit smaller, but still seat 7. I know the 2015/2016 was flat-towable, and a quick Google search shows that the 2017 is too.
You could probably find a low mileage 2015 or 2016, or possible a dealer that still has a new 2016.
However, the Acadia is definitely a crossover; it has all-wheel-drive and more ground clearance than a car, but not as much as a full fledged SUV.
