Hello everyone,We are purchasing a Jayco Melbourne 29d and need to decide about including leveling jacks in the purchase. As all our camping will be at campgrounds which for the most part have level sites I don't think we need to include the added expense, weight and something else that may breakdown in the future but having very limited motorhome camping experience I would really appreciate your thoughts on the subject. Thanks

Live with the RV a while and then decide. I thought I was going to get jacks for my RV and have decided against it. I will admit that jacks would be nice when it rains, but I would rather have the simplicity and less weight.

We have a 31 foot with levelers and love them. No moving back and forth putting in wood or blocks trying to get level. I also really like the stability while moving around the coach or during storms with them down. Our RV seems like it moves easily when the levelers are up and I don't really like that. My opinion... get them with the purchase and don't worry about it. Dave

Years ago, camping was mostly (85%) at private campgrounds. one stop destinations, with our young kids. Mostly level campgrounds.Now in our "prime" years, camping is mostly (85%) at Nat Pks, Nat Forests, St Pks, trips on the go, seeing this beautiful country. Many unlevel sites. Age+camping style=a necessary easy leveling system.

I'm with DaCrema...I use those orange stacking blocks (can't remember the name)...it's amazing how quickly I can get a feel for exactly how many are needed. I keep a bubble level on the shelf in the refrigerator. DaCrema is right: less weight and one less thing to break down.

Get a set of Lynx Levelers at Walmart and give them a try for a season. You can always add levelers later if you decide the blocks are too much trouble.

We have a 29fter, just had some jacks put on this past Xmas . Hwh,225i thi k is rite. Joy stick, Been working odor for us . Happy-caing

I have them on my Dynamax and love them . I push a button and it auto levels itself . Iv had popups and leveled them in the rain while everyone was watching from the car and that just sucks. If you are young and don't mind the rain or your knees can withstand the stone or mud you will have to craw around in go without them. I'll be the guy looking out the window saying that SUCKS.

and a factory installation will be better. I added them to my Bounder and they had to mount the module in a front wheel well that they had to cut out the liner. when the wheel was turned clear to the right, there was only about 1 inch of clearance between it and the tire. never had any problems with it but a factory install would have been much better.

One thing to consider is the levelers add a good bit of weight to your motorhome make sure you have the capacity on your rear axle for the weight.

In addition to being able to easily level your RV, it provides a very stable platform when you inside! It adds a touch of comfort.

As a solo traveler, I wouldn't be without them. Mine are HWH semi-automatic. When I turn them on, they extend until all four are touching the ground. Then a light comes on to tell me which button to push, either front, back, left or right pair, until that light goes out. then the next button until that light goes out and I'm done. Trying to level in a pouring rain just once, makes them worth every penny.
