Need help in Tallahassee area...

I need to have my MH weighed. Preferably weighing 'four-corners' but would settle for only weighing front and rear axles if 'four-corners' weighing is not available in the area. Anyone in this area (or elsewhere) have advice? Thanks! Larry...
  • Call the DOT (FHP) supervisor on duty in your area. If they are in the proper public spirited mood they may have one of their Motor Carrier Compliance Officers come out with portable scales to help you out. If they do come out, offer to buy them lunch or something. They are generally a pretty good bunch in spite of what some of the truckers may say. No I am not one of them but I have met many of them in central florida area over the years.

Thanks! Yes, it's on my list of places if I can't locate 4-corner weighing sites.

There is a Flying J truck stop at exit 192 that has truck scales.

    X2
  • Large moving companies has a truck scale on there lots, most for 5 - 8

    dollars.
  • Call you local moving companies. Most of the MAJOR companies have certified scales at their yard and many are on the flat and open, so you can get all 4 corners, plus the axles.

Many of your bigger truck stops... Flying J/Pilot have CAT scales but you can only weigh each axle. It's hard to find one that has the room and level enough to put one side off the scale. Two axles weighing is better than no weighing.
*The County Landfill in Crawfordville has scales but from the google maps street view you will only be able to weigh each axle.
