It would be very unusual to have anything but the L> brackets...
Have DH look again?
Also, if it just came "unstrung" on one side...
Often the little plastic "Bobbins" that the cords attach to just break
It is not hard to replace / fix / re aTTACH THEM, AND SOMETIMES IT CAN BE DONE WITHOUT REMOCING THE ENTIRE UNIT.

I've restrung a bunch in a couple different motorhomes, it is not hard to do.
