Need help with co-pilot seat

The foot rest on my co-pilot seat is working intermittently. It seeems like the motor just works at random times both extending and retracting the foot rest. Does anyone have an idea of what I might try without having to take it to the shop?

  • I'm fairly sure it is the switch. I went to Camping World to see if they might have a switch. The gentleman who helped me brought me a switch that said it is for a slide but it looked just like this one with the four post on the back. He told me it should work. Put it in and now it is as if there is no power at all going the the footrest motor. Anyone have a suggestion? I have power to everything else on the seat. I put the wires back just as they were on the original one. Is there a fuse somewhere just for the footrest? Does anyone know where I could go to get an actual switch for the chair? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  • We had the same problem. Foretravel had to replace some of the drive gears. Cost was very reasonable--good people down there! They made the point that it is a foot rest, not a leg raiser--do not put any weight on the foot rest when you bring it up.
  • Check the main harness connections going to the seat as well as the contacts on the back of the switch itself. I have had mine come loose and had similar symptoms. If the contacts are tight, then it can be the control switch is starting to fail.
