Onan Emerald Series gasoline generator...
Supposed to run for 30 - 45 minutes a month under load...
Generator shuts off when tanks drops below 1/4 tank so generator can't run coach out of fuel...
Don't want to keep stale ethanol fuel in bus to exercise generator...
Not convinced fuel "stabilizers" work with ethanol and not easy to get to good fuel...
Thinking of adding a small auxiliary tank and bypass valve for the sole purpose of exercising genny. Looking for input. Does this make sense? Ideas on requirements / issues, etc..
Thanks!
As is evidenced by the Varied and Numerous Varieties of Methods that work - no wrong answer to the Question.
So whether you enjoy hooking up an auxiliary fuel tank - sorting Socks - of getting engines that don't run running.
Do what works for you, make yourself Happy.
One of the common threads to most of the replies is that running the engine on occasion is usually not detrimental.
Another Personal Observation is that the current fuel without Stabilizers is not good for most Carburetors, I can attest to this as I currently have 5 small generators that are in need of Carb Work - these generators all ran every day but once left to sit for over 30 days they generally will require time to be cleaned. and the time they need cleaning is never convenient - So I'd say run them - stabilize them - and Good Luck
Dick - I only have two sorts of socks - summer and winter - so I have time to run the Generator while working around the Coach.
Just one more Personal Opinion,
