First. With a decent converter and solar charge controller those Interstates shoudl last a lot longer 7-10 years is typical
I would stick with the six volt types.. Reasons follow, Sam's or Costco as the supplier (Lowest cost) or Trojan (Highest quality but expensive)
Explanation: The six volt GC-2 is a very common battery, in fact I suspect the MOST common lead acid battery as Golf Clubs across the country buy 'em by the pallet load. This makes the PER UNIT cost lower than other types
They do, However, need a drink from time to time DISTILLED WATER ONLY Keep plates wet and keep it 1/8 to 1/4 inch below the bottom of the filler tube
Keep them charged when not in use
You can get 12 volt batteries that have the same capacity as a pair of GC-2 but.. Well twice the size and weight
So you buy two GC-2 you get 220 amp hours at 12 volts (Give or take a bit)
You buy a 4-D you get 220 amp hours at 12 volt (giver or take the same bit) and a Herina from lifting it (not really but it should be funny)
