New 2.lL 4 cyl diesel engine offered in Mercedes sprinters

Winnebago is offering for 2015 the option of a 2.1L, 161 hp (I think it has ~265 ft-lbs of torque) 4 cylinder diesel with its 7 speed automatic transmission in its Winnebago View and Itasca Navion 24 ...

I have my reservations, but M-B is betting the house on the OM651 four-banger in the US market, as it is the standard engine, with the OM642 (V-6) engine $910 more. The ace in the hole is the seven speed transmission with the OM651 engine.

Time will tell. I don't want to sell M-B short, but I also wonder how well the engine will do when it is pulling a very heavy vehicle up a mountain pass.
