New 2.lL 4 cyl diesel engine offered in Mercedes sprinters

Winnebago is offering for 2015 the option of a 2.1L, 161 hp (I think it has ~265 ft-lbs of torque) 4 cylinder diesel with its 7 speed automatic transmission in its Winnebago View and Itasca Navion 24 ...

I think you hit the nail on the head. The OM651 is intended for areas like Paris where going above 50mph (80 kph) tends to be the exception, not the norm, unlike here in the US.

I really wish M-B reversed their engine choices and had the OM642 V-6 standard, with the OM651 four-banger as an option, even if it is a negative-cost item.
