New Class A Motor Home

Does it really matter which brand or model? Is one any better than the other? They all seem to have their problems. We like the floor plan of the Winnebago 42E and the Thor Tuscany 42WX. Any preference or knowledge of these models you can share would be appreciated.

  • From personal experience, I know that Winnebago really stands behind and supports their products.

I have read mixed reviews on Thor.

As many have said, every brand has it problems........ therefore, support from the manufacturer is essential. I would prefer the Winnebago for that reason.
  • Welcome to the forum and yes it does matter. Keep reading and looking and soon you will see the differences in the lineup of most manufacturers.
  • The 42E is virtually identical to our Tour 42QD. I find it to be the most like being in a smaller version of our home. Almost every manufacturer out there is coming out with a copy of it. The floor plan was the only reason I traded my '08 Tour 40TD, which was very nice. It just couldn't compare to the floor plan of the 42QD and the one you're looking at.

I won't claim that the Winnebago is perfect. They have their known issues. But, I think they have a better reputation and would be expected to have fewer problems in the first few years.
  • With no discredit intended to those who own and enjoy Thor products, I think it's pretty safe to say that quality is not an attribute usually associated with Thor products.
  • Without going into a ton of reasoning I would prefer the Winnie of the Thor products.

Is a Ford better than a Chevrolet? Is a Dodge better than a Ford? Is a Kenmore better than a Whirlpool?

No manufacturer deliberately builds a bad product. Your best insurance in obtaining a quality product is to research what manufacturer supports their product and customer after the sale to a level that satisfies you, the purchaser..
