New Hampshire. Maine trip in October

Question

any advice is welcome. my wife and I are hitting Watkin's Glen in early October then up to New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia in Canada. Is New Hampshire and Maine the logical route north, we are taking our time so direct isn't necessary. We want to see some sights etc. on the way. we are not taking the toad, it cuts down on shopping, just mountain bikes.

Not the time of year I'd be heading north. CG we're working this summer is in Conway, NH and CLOSES Oct 15. Old joke is that you know you're a Mainer if you plan the kid's Halloween costumes to fit over snowsuits!

it is actually a great time of year to see New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Obviously the crowds are down but the fall colours are still full and vibrant. Cool in the evening and over night makes for great sleeping weather. The trouble is finding campgrounds that are still open.  We did the Cabot Trail in Nova Scotia 3 years ago and it was SPECTACULAR.

If you are coming up to New Brunswick call ahead to make sure the campgrounds are open. Most close mid-October although a few will be open later.We start to get some hard freeze at night by the end of October so the campground owners need time to winterize in late October. Leaves will be off the trees.I advise a trip in September if possible. Everything is still open, pleasent days, cool refreshing evenings and fall colours that will make you reach for your camera.
