Who says a used unit has had all it's problems solved? Perhaps the original owners gave up and washed their hands of a lemon. See that all the time. Reason they dumped it in the first place. IMHO
Ps old units can look dated with colours in no time, crt tv's are obsolete, brass fixtures look gross etc.
Perhaps that is why I always tend to buy new cars
