I called and spoke to a salesman. He says it is a foam mattress, and the foot of the bed is hinged to fold down when the slide comes in. I didn't press him on it, but I would guess that the under-bed platform is fixed in place, and the plywood runs over top of the platform as the slide goes out and in. That way the foot of it would be supported by the platform when the slide is out, and able to hinge down when the slide is in.
I wish I had asked him the width of the bed. Can't tell if it is 60 inches, or less.
A "down" bed must mean it's a regular floor level bed, not up in the cabover?
