NEW RV RESORT IN SOUT CAROLINA

We have discovered a new RV resort on a small lake in South Carolina. It's call the Greenwood RV & Marina Resort..previously call the Cane Creek RV & Marina Resort. This is located on Lake Greenwood, Sc. It is approx. 57 groomed sites all full hook up and 50 amp for class A only. The address is 463 Cane Creek Camp RD, Cross Hill, SC 29332...# 864 998 3041. I promise you it will soon become one of your favorites. We also discovered a local mennonite baker,Dorothy...864 554-4737, who will deliver fresh breads and pies, etc to your camp site... unbelievably good.

enjoy....:)

Not sure why a TT camper is even replying on a post in the class A forum, especially since it's non technical and obviously just doesn't apply.

Now a TT person isn't allowed in the motorhome forum? Did you not see the "wink" emoticon in my post. Feeling a little defensive, eh? ;)

Sorry, no less than six wheels allowed. (joking of course)

If ya count the wheels on his pick-em-up truck he wins. He has 8 wheels to our 6

Not sure where anyone got any "SNOB" ideas?

I love all "campers" without a doubt.
But certainly don't need to get my panties in a wad over things such as this.
If an American businessman chooses to limit their customers in this way (and I do NOT agree with this) it is his right.

It does look like a very nice place.
It also looks like the owners are looking to sell permanent lots to people traveling in class A motorhomes...
Again, their right to do that, why get negative, just don't go their!

Class A only campgrounds are rare on the East coast, but I was under the impression that there were a number of them along the west coast. ISTR a story in one of the motorhome or camping rags about someone with a high-end class C being turned away from one in either CA or NV.

Are there any other examples of A-only resorts east of the Mississippi River?

I've been to a couple of those "Resorts" in the past. I just wasn't impressed and found people to be somewnat arrogant that stayed there. Many of those "Resorts" restrict entrance by the age of your rig as well. Here is a prime example.

Several years ago I purchased a 1987 27' Winnie Chiefton. My brother and I began a massive project stripping this coach down inside and out. After 18 months the coach was completely restored to include customized paint, chrome wheels, power awnings, complete new interior with state of the art electronics. We dropped in a 8.1 Ltr engine and new tranny to boot. When done it looked and drove like a new coach. When DW and I went out in it we always had people drop by to look at it inside and out. That was until I drove into a "resort" and were told our coach was not allowed because of it's age.

Long story short we sold the Winnie 2 years ago as we decided we didn't need 2 motor homes. The Winnie was a toy that we took camping on special occasions. We had the most fun with it at regular CG's.

I want to go CAMPING, sit around with really nice people, drink some beer and enjoy myself. I just happen to sit outside my Class A that is parked next to a travel trailer, tent, Class C or other Class A. I'm just not "Prevost Crowd" material. I like being around real campers.

As you agree, you do not qualify to stay at this "Resort". You are so opinionated about parking your RV next to a newer RV, they definitely would not feel comfortable in your present. Just because some people own a RV that is less than 10 yrs. old, it does not qualify them as "Prevost Crowd" material. I feel comfortable next to a Prevost as well as a cheaper MH. However, I do appreciate Resorts that allow only Mh's.

Peaches&Cream, please read my post and you will see the 87 Winnie was our toy, just like many drive classic cars on special occasions. We also owned a second 1 year old M/H at the time which we still have. So, we owned 2.

On long trips we used the bigger and much newer Fleetwood coach. As much as I loved the classic Winnie it didn't pull a car very well. Nature of the beast. Also not as much interior space.

You said you appreciate "resorts that allow ONLY MH's". What on earth is wrong with folks that drive high end Class C's or pull Travel Trailers? The only OBVIOUS reason you appreciate a "Resort" such as that is not to be around Class C's or TT's.

Glad to know ya. We are all trailer trash when you consider the engine is either in the rear, in front or out front pulling. All RV's are nothing more than a mobile home or better known as a "trailer".
  • For you folks that get all riled up about Class A MotorCoach Resorts think about the way the resorts are set up.....If you have a 5r where are your windows ..:h..out the back....travel trailers may also have a back window. Where are the HOOKUPS...:h...oh! wrong side....yep...MotorCoach resorts are designed to maximize the VIEWS out the WINDSHIELD which puts the electrical pedestal, water and sewer hookups on the wrong side for a trailer.

We stayed at Lake Greenwood last year and I did a full page spread on my blog about it. The owner even treated several of us to an all day cruise around Lake Greenwood including beverages. All done without even a hint of a sales pitch...we would visit again in a minute. Only drawback is that shopping is not convenient to the campground...BTW...Michelin proving grounds is about a 15 minute drive from the resort and is a worthwhile visit too.

Off the top on my head, I can think of about a dozen Class A Motorcoach resorts east of the Mississippi....my latest blog has one...Bella Terra RV Resort in Foley Alabama, BlueWater Key in Key West, Hilton Head in SC, RiverBend in Fort Meyers Fla, Bay Harbor in Petosky, Michigan, etc. etc...While we don't consider ourselves snobs by any means, we do enjoy what each resort has to offer...all this as we are enjoying our space at the Corps of Engineers park in Georgia at the exhorbitant rate of $66/week!....Dennis
  • I have to laugh. The OP wants to share his thoughts about a nice RV resort he has visited.
Yet the majority of the posts are very negative in their comments. Why so negative?
I'm always happy to learn about nice resorts.
It is much more fun to be positive in life rather than negative.
Glass half empty of half full:)

Thanks. What a beautifully done RV resort. I've added it to our list of places to visit sometime.

I'm not going to get into the whole snobbery, reverse-snobbery, class warfare thingie, I've always thought of my travels as "camping," probably going back to our pop-up and trailer days. But I've visited a few RV "resorts" in the past few years and found, much to my surprise, that the quality of the facilities and amenities made staying there a special treat. I'm not sure I can afford to spend all my time at such places, but I sure do enjoy it when the budget permits! The Lake Greenwood resort looks like it's definitely in that "special" category. Thanks again.
