Versatility vs ease of use. 4 down is easier but limits choices of towed vehicles. I use a tow dolly for the same reasons you probably might prefer a trailer. Much wider choice of toads, can use dolly with multiple vehicles I own. Can use dolly with multiple tow vehicles I own (MH and B van). Don't have to modify a new car when I trade. When it comes to tow rigs one type does not suit everyone. Choose the one that best fits your need.
