One way to test your fuel line is to push air back through it with a compressor. Make sure you open the filler cap first.
You should be able to chase the line as well - check for wire ties pulled to tight, kinks in the line, or anything else that would restrict the flow.
I've posted pictures of the sender/pump/pickup assembly from when we replaced the pump in our '00 E350 (chassis year 1999), but here it is again:

The generator pickup line is the smaller line starting at the lower right, crosses over and extends up to the left.

I also replaced the pump in the generator as it would run for about 5-10 minutes, then quit. I researched this issue & found this to be the typical symptoms of a failing generator fuel pump.
