I never want to appear brand biased, because I am not. Here on the forums, there have been many complaints about Ford loudness, apparently due to the nature of the motor package, sometimes the sound deadening, and maybe mostly due to the shift programming of the five speed trans, which is now superceded by a six speed.
From the stories, I get the impression that the five speed Fords just roar in the mountains. And they skip fourth gear on the downshift? It's not quite fair to compare my Chevy to them because we have a light RV, something like 11K wet. But it's all I have to compare with. I mentioned it was quiet in the mountains. Power and sound wise, climbing passes is just very relaxed. I go up the high passes typically in third gear, 40-45 MPH, running in the 3000's. It could climb a lot faster, but it still handles like a Class C, so I'm not going to do that on tight mountain roads. On straighter grades back east, I can keep up with typical cars and pickups without strain. I am super impressed with the Chevy 6.0 powertrain. It has vastly exceeded my hopes. But again, at 11K lbs, it's not a good comparison to a Class A at 18-20K or more.
As far as house noises, we always hunt them down and (mostly) kill them. Ours is pretty quiet on that front.
