I have had two motorhomes before picking up our third on Friday. During the walk through I discovered that it has NO SPARE TIRE! I asked about it and was told that most new motorhomes do not have one. My 2003 Class C had one mounted under the back in the bed area and my 2007 Class A had one mounted in a storage bay. I measured one of the tires and found that it really would not fit in any of the storage areas. In over 45 years of pulling trailers and driving motorhomes I have had several flat tires. I can not imagine driving without a spare. In fact I used to carry two spares when I pulled tent trailers since tires that size were hard to find while on the road. Have any of you out there had a flat tire and not had a spare? What complications did you have? Did things work out to your satisfaction?

Never happened.. not on my truck anyway. It's unlikely I would be able to change it. Don't be running old tires or driving through fire pits and a flat should be a rarity.

Some travel without spares and belong to coach-net, Good Sam etc where the dispatched repair service SHOULD be able to fix you up with a new tire.The problems I have with this are; The cost of the brand they will sell you versus the cost in a non emergency situation. They may not have your size tire which means you could sit for 3-4 days if a long weekend. If the service you prefer screws up or they cannot get you someone because your half way to nowhere, you have NO WAY to get going again.I belong to Good Sam but I have all I need to change a tire should I have to. I never want to but I can if needed.My thought goes back to when I had a Winnie Chieftain and the MH was stuck for 4 days in Scranton Pennsylvania because no one had that size tire, IIRC a 19 inch one. The nearest place according to the company I dealt with was a warehouse in South Carolina. No the price was not bad but the wait made me resolve to have a spare. I now carry 2 as I travel the South west. It has come in handy more than once

If you RV uses a truck size tire just call road service. They will have them in stock and they have the pneumatic tools to change it. I can see carrying a smaller spare for a car or TT but when you get to a certain size, it's better to let the pro's deal with it. Unless it's an odd size or not a common tire, I would not worry about it.So few people can actually or will change a tire these days that most cars only have a doughnut and only a select few actually have a full size spare. I don't think I've changed a tire in over 20 years.

My 2014 Tioga Ranger comes with a spare but did notice a lot without

Another option is to install a tire hoist between the frame rails behind the rear axle. Here is how I did my installation, albeit with a heavier wheel/tire combination.

I don't think it's a good idea to remove one of the rear dual tires, and leave the remaining tire to carry perhaps twice the weight it was designed to carry. :h

I have dual tires on the rear and figure I'm riding with two mounted spares in an emergency. Have been able to drive it carefully with only one good rear wheel. So if I have a flat on the front, I move one of the rears to the front and find the nearest tire facility for repair or replacement. I do have a spare but have never used it.

Bought my DW a new 2013 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid last Sept and it came with a "Plug Kit" and no spare tire. I have a 1-800 "Come And Get Me" road side service which hasn't failed me yet in the years I've had them. JMHO

My 1993 HR Navigator doesn't have a spare or a place to carry one, although my 1989 HR Imperial Class C did have a spare and I used it three times. However, in 10 years, I've never needed a spare for the Navigator.

I was told in a pinch, one could use one of the rear dual tires as a spare, such as on the front. Although my coach has a jacking system that will lift it off the ground, I'd be reluctant to try and change a tire by myself. They are just too heavy.

My latest RV also came without a spare tire. I went through my mechanic and bought a new Ford OEM wheel, at considerably less cost than Ford was going to charge me, and had him mount a new tire on it. If I get a flat, I'll either change it myself, or call on one of the 3 road side assistance plans I currently have to change it. Regardless, I wasn't going to perhaps pay through the nose for someone to bring me one, if and when I need one.
