Like Ron, I installed those brackets and I also filled the plastic hinges on the underneath side with JB Weld to reinforce them. It is sad how poorly the hinges are designed and built. Adding these brackets transfers the weight away from the hinge and the JB is just a little extra insurance against catastrophe.
By the way, a good ten buck investment is a small indoor/outdoor wireless thermometer. Put the outdoor transmitter in the refrig and the indoor receiver somewhere convenient. You can monitor the coldness of your refrig without opening the door. My wife worries about all the stuff we carry getting to hot or just as bad, lettuce and fruit freezing.
