I would still blow the line out with compressed air just to make sure there isn't some sort of blockage.
If you do have to empty the tank, there is probably a fuel pump test lead that will allow you to run the pump. There's usually a test port with a Schrader valve on the fuel rail. Hook a braided steel line up to it (I don't recall the size) and pump it into containers.
I took my fuel filler tube off and siphoned out using the mouth-full-of-gas method.
