The real estate shows of the same ilk use actual buyers. The twist on those shows are they take people who just bought a property and then film them looking at two additional properties along with filming the one they just bought. That way they avoid the inevitable "we don't like any of them, show us more". Actually had the daughter of a friend get filmed when she moved to Paris. Properties were so scarce in her price range that they just filmed the apartments of a couple of friends of the real estate agent that were not actually for sale. That inside knowledge made watching the show a bit more understandable, since she "picked" the obvious worst of the bunch. Her compensation was the show bought her maybe $1000.00 worth of furniture to fill the apartment for the "how is it going" segment.
