Oil change

Hello
I have a2018 fleetwood bounder on a ford chassis the last time I did the oil ,a few years ago the oil came out on the cross member and ran all over the place and made a mess. Is there a trick to bo this without the mess?

The best way I've found to deal with that mess is to pay a shop to do it :-) I don't mind the mechanical work of an oil change, but don't want to deal with capturing and disposing the used oil.

When dad ran into a similar problem with his tractor (farm sized tractor, not a lawnmower), he bent some sheet metal into a channel to guide the oil flow into his pan. He used the same trick to help catch the drips from the oil filter too (which always seemed to drip a half quart of oil)
