Mike, with only 5k miles and about a year old I don't see changing it later as a big deal. It's preferable to change it hot because when the it's cold it's more viscous (thicker) and will drain slower. This leaves a little more of the dirty oil inside the engine. Also, a higher flow rate is desirable because it will allow more contaminates to flow out the drain. With that said, if it was really old or had many miles on it I would do it cold, but in your case I say let it go until you get back. In the future I would do it in the fall when you put it away for the season. Good luck and enjoy your trip.
