Voltage for the battery has a lot to do with the starting process. You did not say if it was gas or diesel, maybe that does not make much difference however.
I know when my diesel gen. does not want to start I have to start the rv motor to help build up the batteries. That seems to help, also if diesel it will be common for that as it takes awhile for the glow plugs to heat up enough.
