We get a lot of dark staining from Arbutus (Madrona) leaves.I have found that a preventative good paste wax on the roof makes it easier to clean. No need to buff it to a high polish. Be careful on a waxed roof though, especially when it's wet. (My balance isn't good so I stay down on hands and knees.)
Same with the front cap--keep it well waxed and the bugs come off easier.
