We went from a Cummins 8.3 ISC to a 2012 Ford V-10 because, based on our usage and other changing criteria, we also could not justify the expense of a diesel. IMO, the Ford V-10 & 5-speed Torqueshift tranny is one of the best combo's ever built. We switch between flat towing our 4-door Wrangler and and 18' enclosed trailer with 2 Harley Touring bikes.
The engine runs smooth and has more than enough power to pull us up mountains. The torqueshift tranny is great for getting us down the other side.
