am excited that you ordered a new rig. Think we are spoiled by the short RV but on the other hand 28 is not that much longer for the luxury of separate spaces. I look at the bigger ones and feel there is a lot of compromise in newer models. On the other hand, as the machine ages more and more will crop up for maintenance and when you are working on it more than using it, time to look for something else. You will love having a new rig, getting used to it and taking it far and wide while you can rely on the warranty and the newness of everything. Good luck and have fun.
The only Winnebago close was the Minnie 25B, but had too many things we didn't like. No gravity fill on water, E-350 chassis,no CCC, small water, black and grey tanks less than what we have, no pantry, no remote heated mirrors, no heated tanks and sewer dump lines hanging down off left rear, corner bed and more and limited wardrobe space.
Did find 3M eraser wheel works best at removing decals. 1/3 the time of heating and scraping.
Healeyman, we ordered the Forest River Forester 2701

We find that a lot of times at state parks it isn't the site itself, but the approach and narrow tree-lined roads that pose the bigger challenge. Our previous rig was a 26 foot trailer behind a crewmax truck, so our overall length was actually longer than our 31 foot C is...so I take that into consideration when I see sites listed for accomodating a trailer to 30'. I love when I can look at pics of the sites when booking, but you can't always tell if there are some big old trees right across from the site.
I know exactly what you mean.
