Our Holmes Ceramic Heater bit the dust....

For years we have used a small Holmes cermic heater to keep our Class C from getting too cold at night and for warming it up a bit in the morning. It has been fantastic but it just died this weekend. Does Holmes still make small ones that have a High and Low fan setting and allow you to set the desired temperature.. I.E. 60, 70, 75, 80 to maintain? I set ours up on our dinette table and have it set for 60 degrees for overnight hours which is great as it only kicks in when needed. I do not want to get a unit that does not have a thermostat setting like this.

If not a Holmes unit do you have a great little one that you would recommend and where can you buy one? By little I mean one about the size of a gallon of milk. Mine is a grey plastic with a metal front cover and the buttons on the top to display the fan speed and temp settings. Real simple to operate and dependable.

  • I bought a Honeywell "energy smart, "therma wave" ceramic heater at Target. Digital thermostat works erratically, will heat a small room but probably not an RV in really cold weather. There are a lot of junk small heaters of all brands, some good reviews, lots are bad right out of the box.

  • Thanks again for the suggestions. I decided to get another 1 touch Holmes ceramic space heater since I liked the old one so much. The new one is a bit larger... 15" high but looks like a good unit with all the safety features and a dual ceramic heater.
  • Electric Portable Fireplace

Bought one of these for our C a couple of months ago. I can't tell you how much we love this thing. It heats the entire RV (32 ft/1 large slide), adds ambiance, very efficient, has thermostat and remote. Memorial weekend we were on the side of a mountain in upstate PA, wind steady at 30 MPH with gusts beyond. Temperature dropped into the thirties. Toasty constant 72 inside.

I'm acually going to buy another one for our S&B living room.
  • Thanks for the suggestions on the Pelonis units. Any other heaters I should consider?
  • X2 on the Pelonis heater. Best one I have ever had. I have a Holmes sitting right here next to my desk but I prefer the Pelonis. I think the Holmes came from a Target store in the midwest a couple of years ago.
  • I've used a couple of different brands over the years; a Pelonis w/1000&1500W settings served me well for 7 years and a newer G.E. w/electronic digital thermostat controls/display. The G.E. @ $35 didn't last two seasons. So, I went back to the Pelonis in Jan. of this year. Wally World had them on special for $19.95.
