our motorhome has a long crack down the out side body

We were getting ready to put the cover on the RV and while I was waitng for my husband to help put it on I noticed a very long crack down the back! We don't what to do about it.
Has this ever happened?? it's thin now, about 5 ft long but we are worried.

(38' Winnebago)

Husband emailed Winnebago with questions but no reply yet.

We purchased it from CampingWorld in Longmont, CO about 3 1/2 yrs ago.
Thanks

  • 2 questions;

    1) Would it be possible to post a picture of the crack?

    2) $144.50 a month for how long??? If you've been paying that for the 3.5 years you've owned it you've already paid over $6000.00. Even if it ended today that seems excessively excessive to me. How much longer does that go on?

Either way, good luck. Sure would like to see some pictures if possible.
  • what you have is an extended service contract. at $144.00/month I would hope it would cover about everything. I would be banging on CW Door.

Thanks Everyone for your help. I am just depressed about this problem. This is a great web site for connections.

  • While you're waiting to determine the resolution, make sure that no water penetrates the wall or you may have bigger problems to deal with.

  • Sorry to hear about your problem.

There could be several reason a crack appears but you would only be guessing until you have a professional body shop that does fiberglass work inspects it.

You stated the crack is at the back of the motorhome. Do you mean on the rear cap of the motorhome or on one of the sides at the back?

If this is a know issue at Winnebago they may be able to assist on explaining how to repair it and preventing a re-occurrence of the crack. I doubt they will assist financially.

Good luck and I hope it is an inexpensive repair.

  • If it's not covered by warranty, it "may" be covered by your insurance. I say may because it depends. If something hit it and cracked it then it is covered. But if it cracked because of a construction defect it may not be covered. I'd give Winnebago a chance first to take a look and then try insurance if they can't, or won't, fix it.

Edit: If it is a 10 year old motorhome as the person above states, then Winnebago isn't covering the damage. Your best bet is insurance, but like I said, it depends on exactly how the crack got there.
  • Your profile says its a 2006, 10 years old would have no warranty on fiberglass, might have to repair yourself.
