Good tip. We have a bit newer Ford E 350 and the temp gauge bounces around on the bottom of cold most of the time. I replaced the thermostat when it first seemed to be a problem, but it did not help. So I'm guessing there is something wrong with the gauge. We have a scan gauge so I have not gotten it fixed.
