Mike I have adjusted mine twice and repacked once since I bought the MH in 2003. What I did after trying a screwdriver and buggered the cap slightly was to take an old screw driver and bent the tip at a 90 degree angle after grinding a chisel tip where the blade was. I then tapped the screw driver with a hammer around the circumference of the hub. Once the hub was out about 1/16 of an in I used the right angle screw driver to pull on the lip of the hub to get it off. I would just take the wheel bearing out and inspect it first the repack it if it is good and re tighten it as you described in you post. My feeling is if you just had it aligned by Superior Spring they would have changed the worn ball joints, tie rod ends, idler arms etc if worn before aligning. Mine had about 1/8 in of play when I first got the MH.
I think I'm going to take it to Superior tomorrow. I just changed the inner and outer tie rods yesterday and never realigned it after I installed the Super Steer springs last year. I will have them check it out.
