Why don't the truck camper companies make a model that goes onto the naked chassis with the bed removed? It would give them more room to work with, better access to tanks below the floor, save lots of weight since there is no chassis and let 4x4 be more affordable. I know they make flatbed versions, but the flat bed raises everything, adds weight and cost.
