We took our MH out into the desert with our Liberty in tow last weekend. It is only the 2nd time I have driven it any distance, but it seems to have an excess amount of play in the wheel. I am constantly correcting to keep it straight. It's not a lot of play, but enough that you cannot relax much.
Our coach is an 06 E450 31ft Tioga, but only has 12k miles on it and always kept under cover. It also hasbrand new Michelin's
. We plan on taking a long trip here in a couple of months and hopefully it won't be a 2500 mile white knuckle trip. ... Thanks in advance.
It is NOT always related to front end alignment etc.
Mine was 2 things.
First on my 'brand new' tow bar was not staying in the lock position after taking off which was whipping the MH around. You did not see a big sway on the toad but it was just enough to destroy the handling of the MH.
Got new tow bar from BlueOX and that cured that.
Second. I
put NEW Micheline's on too
right before heading out full time. Asked for the most expensive ones they had. Came back, picked up the MH and hit the road.Only thing was the type they put on had 'too aggressive' treads for the weight of a Class C. Go out and take your two fingers to the outer tread and move it back and forth. If you can move it back and forth there's your wandering.
My handling was PERFECT until I put the new tires on. Semi driver pointed that out to me after listening to me go on and on about how the handling changed.
I.E. the outer ribs on the aggressive treads flex. And made my steering go all to hell. :(
Camping neighbor had this be the problem of wandering.
Go out and check the steering gear box. Stand by the drivers side and just look down. And hope it doesn't look like this.
